'We have been blocked': Trump lashes out at Twitter for fluctuating followers

Trump Uses Social Media Summit to Complain About His Twitter Feed

President Donald Trump ramped up his attacks on Silicon Valley giants on Thursday with a call for "regulatory and legislative solutions" to what he described as unfair treatment of conservatives by major online platforms.

During a 50-minute address, Trump reflected on some of his Twitter gaffes, bemoaning how they are jumped on by the media.

"We hardly do press releases anymore because if I put out on social media a statement, like I'm going to in a little while and something totally unrelated but a very important statement, now they're going insane", explained the United States president.

During the conference Trump praised the right-wing social media influencers.

Twitter and Facebook had no comment on the summit when contacted by FOX Business.

That was the United States president's boast at the White House's first social media summit on Thursday, during which he delivered a speech doubling down on claims that Twitter and Facebook are rife with "terrible bias". "The fact that some of the most extreme voices on social media are coming to the White House, and they get a forum to complain about how often they're retweeted, and that the actual platform companies aren't even invited, smacks of the absurd".

The White House spokesman said about 130 people would attend, without providing a guest list. "I can't follow you", he added.

However, her close friend, Serena Williams defended the Duchess , having nothing but good things to say about her. She teamed the look with Asprey's Woodland Oak Leaf earrings, which are over a thousand pounds online.

Trump has skewered Facebook, Google and Twitter for months on allegations that they're biased against conservatives, even accusing them of trying to rig the election.

The tool comes in the wake of several Republicans slamming Facebook and Twitter for censoring conservative speech on both the platforms.

But Trump has no intention in the near future of abandoning Twitter for Parler or any other service, according to three people familiar with the matter.

This prompted laughter from the audience, which included many prominent right-wing social media activists.

Regardless of the rhetoric, the decisions of the sites to use their own judgment to suppress the free speech of some but not others justifies greater scrutiny as to whether they, like other broadcast mediums that are classified as public utilities, warrant more oversight of their own.

"No private company should be browbeaten by the government into giving a pass to objectionable content that violates company policies", CCIA president Ed Black said in a statement.

"It's not surprising that one of the loudest disseminators of misinformation is inviting known extremists and conspiracy theory peddlers to the White House social media summit", said Democratic Rep. "It's a shame President Trump would prefer to fan the same fires of online social discord that Russian Federation sparked in the 2016 election rather than bring real experts together to address the issue of content moderation in a thoughtful and rational manner".
