"It is because parliament may try and take a no-deal Brexit off the table altogether and so I think - my commitment is that I think I'm the best person to get a deal and if we get a deal it will be on or around the 31st of October but I can't control what Parliament does and that's why I'm being honest with people about the difficulties".

"I would like to commend both candidates on their campaigns as both have put across very credible proposals on why they feel they should be our next Prime Minister".

In an interview with the BBC's Andrew Neil, the Foreign Secretary said he was not prepared to make the commitment when it was clear Parliament could block it.

The cabinet minister said she was backing Jeremy Hunt in the leadership race.

Boris Johnson is going to take a lot of positives from that U-turn.

Outgoing British Prime Minister, Theresa May, said she regrets allowing too much polarisation over Brexit and avoiding televised debates before a disastrous snap election in 2017, in an interview published on Friday.

Boris Johnson, who is now leading the race to become the next prime minister, has refused to rule out suspending Parliament, known as prorogation, and allowing a no-deal Brexit to take place by legal default on 31 October.

Clark told Sky News on Friday that the disruption of a no-deal departure would lead to job losses.

"I think that unfortunately what I said on that TV debate was misrepresented to Kim".

That came as British police opened an investigation into the leak.

Speaker John Bercow in the House of Commons.

Johnson has not ruled out proroguing, despite former prime minister Sir John Major warning that he will launch judicial review proceedings if he does.

She said she had achieved an "enormous amount" in three years in the job.

Stride responded: "The Government do not believe that (suspending parliament) would be a desirable situation, not least because it would put the monarch in the awkward position of being involved in what is essentially a political decision given that it is Prorogation based on the advice of the Prime Minister, but ultimately granted by the Queen".

"Whilst I support numerous proposals and policies put forward by Hunt, we are not seeking an entrepreneur but a leader that will bring our party and country together".

If he could not guarantee that himself; then he should never have made them in writing, simple as that, so I think we do have an individual who's had to fall on his sword, but because of his own stupidity, simple as that.

Nicola Lowery said it was important the next PM delivers a "collective vision" in parliament, and that Johnson was the man to do it.

He argued the United Kingdom could continue to trade tariff-free with the European Union under Article 24 of the GATT - but the European Union and the World Trade Organization have said it wouldn't work in the event of a chaotic Brexit.

"On the other side, people who said they didn't want to leave with no deal, but weren't prepared to vote for a deal in order to make sure that what they wanted happened".
