Celtics to waive F Yabusele

Tacko Fall Celtics

The Celtics on Wednesday waived big man Guerschon Yabusele, according to an ESPN.com report. Otherwise, despite Yabusele's departure, it's going to be tough to make room for Fall when more experienced and skilled options are still available on the open market.

Now the Celtics have one more roster spot to fill.

Yabusele had struggled during his first two games at the Las Vegas Summer League, including being held scoreless in Saturday's opener against the 76ers. None of those options would be almost as exciting as Fall, who has been impressive in Summer League action.

After multiple seasons training with and playing for Boston, Yabusele continued to look like a deer in headlights even in this year's Summer League, unable to reproduce the relatively healthy outings at lower levels of play.

The Celtics now have 14 guaranteed contracts for next season. Currently, the Celtics can only offer minimum salary contracts. The team can use its open spot to ensure summer league celebrity Tacko Fall stays on their roster, though there's no rush to do such until rival teams begin inquiring about his availability. But there are no signs of that happening just yet, the source said. In June, Boston agreed to a two-way deal with former DePaul sharpshooter Max Strus, an undrafted free agent. He's got a lot of work to do still to be an National Basketball Association player, but he's been fun to watch.

It could be more realistic that they shift Waters to the main roster and sign Fall to a two-way deal.
