Bryan Singer to pay $150K to settle sex assault claim

Carlos Sanchez-Guzman accused Singer of raping him when he was a 17-year-old high school student during a party on a yacht in Seattle. He also directed the Oscar-winning 2018 Queen biopic, though he was sacked from the film toward the end of the project. Sanchez-Guzman filed a lawsuit against Singer in December 2017, just days after the director was sacked from Bohemian Rhapsody. At a later date, Sanchez-Guzman cited Singer in the very same bankruptcy case. "When [Sanchez-Guzman] refused, Bryan Singer forced him into acts of oral and anal sex". Singer denied the allegations.

Singer's attorney Andrew Brettler said the filmmaker doesn't even know Sanchez-Guzman and hasn't had any interactions with him. However, it was later reopened after his creditors claimed he didn't list the potential proceeds from the lawsuit against Singer as an asset.

An agreement between Singer's attorneys and the bankruptcy trustee was reached on Wednesday. Sanchez-Guzman isn't the only person to make claims against Mr. Bryan Singer, as there have been other accusations made by men who were young boys at the time.

There is no version of the world where I am trying not to acknowledge one of the greatest films ever made. As a result, Danny is forced to call upon his own powers and face the ghosts of the past.

Singer was sacked from the Oscar-winning movie Bohemian Rhapsody for "unreliable behaviour" amid the allegations. The trustee noted that it would be enough money to pay off the $61,000 in claims against Sanchez-Guzman, pay the costs of administering the case and leave money left over for him. "The decision to resolve the matter with the bankruptcy trustee was purely a business one, as litigation costs would well exceed the amount requested by the trustee to pay off the creditors who were owed money when the debtor filed for bankruptcy".

If the case is dismissed with prejudice, that means it's dismissed permanently and that Sanchez-Guzman can never sue Singer for this again.
