Bowlen, longtime Broncos owner, dies at age 75

Mr. B is the greatest owner in sports’ Pat Bowlen dies after lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s

"We are saddened to inform everyone that our beloved husband and father, Pat Bowlen, passed on to the next chapter of his life late Thursday night peacefully at home surrounded by family", the Bowlen family said in a statement on the Broncos website. The statement did not specify a cause of death.

Bowlen, 75, had been battling Alzheimer's disease. He will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August.

Since Bowlen took over in 1984, the Broncos have had as many Super Bowl appearances as losing seasons: seven. During that span, the team won three Super Bowl rings and Bowlen became synonymous with a pair of catch phrases.

"Pat Bowlen was driven by the will to succeed and his competitive spirit made him a great leader", National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell tweeted.

Bowlen served as a key figure among the NFL labor and TV contracts, including negotiating the league's $18 billion television deal, among the most lucrative in history, as the chair of the NFL Broadcast Committee.

In his role as the chairman of the board of Denver Broncos Charities, Bowlen's overseen the donation of almost $30 million to area organizations since the fund's inception in 1993.

La Liga fined €250,000 by Spanish data protection agency for misusing app
La Liga claims that the software protects individual users' rights because it doesn't record, store or listen to conversations. Because of that, it was determined that La Liga was improperly collecting the personal data of users.

"Pat's legacy and impact on the Broncos and the community of Denver will not only be remembered for his team's success on the field, but for the lives he has touched along the way". He also served on multiple other committees, including: NFL Films, Compensation, Pro Football Hall of Fame, NFL Network, Finance, and worldwide and Workplace Diversity.

"Pat was the driving force in establishing the championship culture of the Broncos". When I came into the league in 1994, I worked closely with Pat on the NFL's broadcasting committee and he offered advice and guidance to help me in every way. "He gave this team everything we needed to be the best and compete for championships, and the focus was always on football", Elway, 58, wrote.

The NFL lost one of its most respected and longest-serving owners on Friday.

"He was a tremendous mentor to me and a tremendous friend". He was a terrific leader.

"He did a great job of applying pressure at the right times but always trusted his football people to make the right decisions". Last June, Bowlen's wife Annabel announced she also had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
