Amanda Knox back in Italy where she was acquitted of murder

Amanda Knox returns to Italy for first time since prison release after vowing to ‘never willingly go back

Knox landed at Milan's Linate airport on Thursday, on a flight from Dublin, Italian police told CNN.

Amanda Knox has arrived in Italy for the first time since she was acquitted by an appeals court in October 2011 for the murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher in the university town of Perugia.

She will be a guest speaker on a panel titled "Trial by Media" on Saturday at the invitation of the Italy Innocence Project.

The Seattle native was 20 years old at the time of the murder of Briton Meredeth Kercher, whose half-naked body was found on Nov 2, 2007, in a bedroom of the apartment she and Knox shared in Perugia. However, the pair were convicted again in absentia in 2013 before being acquitted again in 2015.

Rudy Guede, a 32-year-old Ivorian film actor, was found guilty of Kercher's murder in 2008 and is now serving a 16-year sentence.

Knox, Sollecito and another man, Rudy Hermann Guede, from the Ivory Coast, were accused of her murder.

Single-use plastics ban not expected to hurt petrochemical growth in Canada
Apart from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the European Union are members of the charter. Public consultations will help determine which single-use plastics will be banned.

"And as this homecoming looms (or is it a "deployment" or "madness" - no word seems to fit), a different sort of surreal moment is at the forefront of my mind", Knox wrote Wednesday about her return to Italy.

Knox and Sollecito spent four years in prison before their convictions were overturned in 2011.

Europe's human rights court in January ordered Italy to pay Knox 18,400 euros ($20,000) in financial damages for failures to provide adequate legal and translation assistance during her early questioning. "Amanda has been definitively acquitted in court, but in the popular imagination she is still guilty, because she has been the victim of a barbaric media trial".

She explained that she made her social media accounts visible in an attempt to reclaim her narrative and space in the public sphere.

Knox wrote on Twitter that she had declined to conduct interviews ahead of her panel appearance.

She also wrote that while she was on trial, the "prosecutor painted me as a sex-crazed femme fatale" and that "the media profited for years by sensationalizing an already sensational and utterly unjustified story".
