Russia Is So Pissed About HBO's 'Chernobyl,' It's Creating Its Own Series

HBO's Chernobyl has been a critical success for the premium network and has captivated viewers across the world.

Despite the glowing worldwide reception, there's one place the series has not gone over well: Russian Federation, specifically in the power corridors of the Kremlin.

The Russian version of the show will air on NTV, owned by the media division of the Russian natural gas company Gazprom, itself majority-owned by the Russian government. As the subsequent episodes continued to captivate, tourism rates shot up even more.

In the show, numerous Russian "higher-ups" appear to be either totally incompetant or ludicrously corrupt, and while creators of the miniseries have admitted that they over-emphasised certain parts of the show for dramatic effect, Russian media outlets have slammed the portrayal for its inaccuracies, with one newspaper calling it "a caricature and not the truth".

Writing this week in the Moscow Times, columnist Ilya Shepelin noted a number of pro-Kremlin media figures have used their columns or state television programs to chip away at the HBO production's credibility or to gripe about its portrayal of Russian leaders.

HTC U19e and Desire 19+ premium midrangers Launched in Taiwan
Additionally, you will get HTC BoomSound dual speakers, 4G LTE, NFC , Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C. If this isn't sufficient, a separate model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will also be available to purchase.

The Russian series' creator, Alexei Muradov, apparently considers it a source of national shame that the American series, created by Craig Mazin, is earning so much praise for its depiction of a historic Russian tragedy.

So much so, the country has decided to make its own Chernobyl-inspired series, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday.

The only available details about the premise of the series are that a group of Soviet KGB officers is searching for a Central Intelligence Agency agent stationed at Chernobyl, who is believed to be a spy.

In response to this negative feedback of the show, a Russian TV network has announced that it plans to make its own series about the Chernobyl disaster.
