Absolutely Everyone Needs To Watch This Disturbing Video Of 'Mark Zuckerberg'

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had been the victim of his own deepfake

Facebook recently came under fire for refusing to block the sharing of a video of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that had been doctored to make her appear drunk or impaired. The social media company, instead, chose to de-prioritize it in newsfeeds.

A doctored video of Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is being circulated amid criticism that the tech giant isn't doing enough to combat disinformation.

The video doesn't exactly put Zuckerberg or Facebook in a good light, but the Facebook-owned Instagram is declining to scrub it from its service.

It said, "Imagine this for a second: One man, with total control of billions of people's stolen data, all their secrets, their lives, their futures". I owe it all to Spectre. At the time Facebook was criticized for its nonaction, so with Zuckerberg now being the victim perhaps the company would look hypocritical if it were to react.

According to his website, Posters and fellow artist Daniel Howe teamed up with artificial intelligence start-ups to create "deepfake" videos of celebrities ranging from Kim Kardashian to US President Donald Trump saying ridiculous things.

The Zuckerberg video, which was first reported by Vice, comes as the US Congress prepares to hold its first hearing on the potential threats posed by deepfake videos. The exhibit was on display at the Sheffield Doc/Fest in the United Kingdom from June 6-11. She said Facebook is serving an accomplice and enabler of false information and Russian elections interference.

Omer Ben-Ami, co-founder of Canny AI, one of the video's creators, told PolitiFact that the company develops a technology for video dialogue replacement using two videos, one of the person and another of the audio to be used. They even made it give out a creepy message. The experts at Canny trained the algorithm on the original, real 2017 clip and voice actors, and then reconstructed the original video using Zuckerberg's real movements and an actor's.

House Democrats to get more Mueller evidence; Trump calls witness 'sleazebag'
After opening statements from Nadler and Collins, John Dean compared specific findings in the Mueller report to Watergate. Napolitano explained the legal implications of the deal struck between Barr and House Judiciary chairman Rep.

Although the clip is framed as presented as a realistic-looking news bulletin, the stilted speech and facial expressions of the Zuckerberg look-alike means it is not entirely convincing.

"Posters also welcomed the fact that Instagram was "not going to censor us as artists".

Hany Farid, a professor of computer science and digital forensics expert at the University of California, Berkeley, agreed that the manipulation is clear. The clip of Zuckberg used to make the deepfake was taken from an online CBS News broadcast.

Until recently, video hoaxes were relatively rare since they are harder to pull off than fakes of still images, but this is changing rapidly thanks to the rise of GANs, or generative adversarial networks.

PolitiFact reached out to Facebook for comment about this video clip, but we did not get a response before publication.

"We have fully cooperated with the FTC's investigation to date and provided tens of thousands of documents, emails and files", a Facebook representative said in a statement.
