Bethesda unveils cloud-based streaming tech Orion at E3 2019

Orion Is Bethesda's Entry Into The Cloud Streaming Game

"It can work with any game engine, and will improve player experiences no matter which game you're playing, or whether you're streaming on Stadia, on [Microsoft's] xCloud, or another streaming platform".

This streaming software works on the game engine level, reducing latency and facilitating game streaming on lower bandwidths.

So how does it work? And it looked like it was working, but this was a stage presentation of streaming software, so the only way we'll know whether Orion is up to snuff is to test it in the wild.

Watch the Bethesda E3 Show With Us Right Here!
Bethesda is getting ready to go live with its E3 press conference for 2019. As you might expect, it's heavy metal as Hell.

As announced during its E3 press conference, Bethesda's cloud streaming tech is "a game- and platform-agnostic technology that optimizes game engines for streaming" called Orion, according to Bethesda's Orion website. He also added that it shouldn't matter how far away you live from your nearest streaming data centre, either, as Orion-enabled games should still let you stream at max settings. It is something game developers can integrate with their games to "provide players with a fundamentally better streaming experience".

The release date of the public trials (see below) hasn't been announced. Over at E3, Bethesda demonstrated Doom 2016 streamed onto a mobile device with 60fps and native 4K resolution with no latency or loss in graphics quality.

People who join the Doomslayers club will able to stream the original DOOM (2016) for free.
