Tottenham Hotspur v Everton

Arsenal could match Tottenham's points tally on the final day of the season but Spurs are well and truly in the driving seat due to their eight-goal superior goal difference.

Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to claim a 2-1 win over Everton in the Premier League at their home ground on Sunday afternoon.

Leicester have very little to play for also, but a win will guarantee them a top half finish while a defeat could see the finish outside of the top 10, which I think is a big deal for clubs in and around those mid-table positions.

Tottenham have now qualified for the Champions League for a fourth consecutive season under Mauricio Pochettino, who has made playing in Europe's top competition something routine for the club since he took over in 2014, securing his first top-four finish in his second campaign.

Spurs have been battling against the odds from the start of the season, as they have come up against a crippling injury list, went through two transfer windows without making any signings and did not get into their own stadium until April.

"People need to realise what this group of payers is achieving".

Everton haven't won away against Tottenham in the Premier League since November 2008 (1-0), drawing three and losing six since.

"Today was not the problem", said United manager Solskjaer, who previously had a brief spell in charge of Cardiff, after away fans at Old Trafford on Sunday had chanted he would be "sacked in the morning". "That is not where our challenge lies - we have a long and hard way to be where we want to be".

"We hurt them twice, but it was just a shame we conceded the goal that doesn't allow us to take the three points". We finished five or six points behind third, fourth, fifth and that has to be our aim.

And of course, no one would begrudge the Spurs players and staff having a few celebratory drinks on Wednesday evening.

Across the same period in which they've negotiated the Champions League knockout stages, Tottenham have taken just 21 points from the last 42 available in the Premier League. That is enough evidence alone to warrant the danger signs appearing when you consider Roy Hodgson's men are odds-on favourites to win this match.

"We meet again July 1 and we'll work back to where we belong".
