Google's Pixel phones are being slowed down by their Digital Wellbeing feature

Google I O 2019 Starts Today How to Watch Livestream What to Expect Keynote Timing

Google is yet to make any comment about the performance issues or the possibility that having Wellbeing running in the background is proving to be an unacceptable resource hog (probably runs on Chrome - ha!) but it's worth pointing out that even the posh-end Pixel phones have 4GB RAM against the current flagship favourite figure of 6GB. You can get a better look at it below.

If you've got a Google Pixel 3 or 3 XL and have been wondering why it stutters and feels laggy some (most of the time for some people) then you need to disable Digital Wellbeing right now.

Google debuted Digital Wellbeing previous year, with Android Pie. It's still unclear why this would happen, and it's even possible that Digital Wellbeing is not at fault. Android Q is slick as hell, but the phone does feel slow so much of the time - that is, until I stumbled across this post on Reddit recommending disabling Digital Wellbeing in Android to speed up the phone, and holy crap did it work. As for Android Q, at I/O 2019, Google revealed a set of new features like Dark mode, smart replies, suggestions among others. What it does is track the amount of time users spend on their devices, and allow users to control the amount of time they spend doing so.

Apple faces customer lawsuit over app store
A federal judge initially ruled in Apple's favor in the case, but an appeal to the 9th Circuit overturned that decision . Apple's response: Because the App Store is a marketplace, Apple isn't responsible for how developers price their apps.

The Pixel 3a is priced at $399 and offers up a lot of bang for the buck both in terms of features and overall performance. While it does affect the Pixel 3, it's not to the same extent. In many ways, the Pixel 3a - which is positioned as a premium device that won't break the bank - fills a gap Apple left open when it curiously discontinued the iPhone SE previous year. Especially considering it does have the famous Pixel camera built-in.

And back in January, you may recall that Marvin Chow - Google's VP of Product Marketing - fired off the following tweet featuring a side-by-side comparison shot of a photo taken with an iPhone XS and one taken with a Pixel 3.
