Pavelski active vs. Avs in Game 7

San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche - 5/8/19 NHL - Playoffs Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Joe Pavelski celebrated his early goal by blowing a kiss to the home crowd. Pavelski is still likely to be a game-time decision, but if he does suit up for Game 7 it could give San Jose a bit of a boost.

The former Sharks defenseman fired up the crowd at SAP Center by chugging a drink on the JumboTron during a break in the action at Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round between San Jose and the Colorado Avalanche.

"He played unbelievable", praised Sharks teammate Logan Couture.

That tells you that, for the most part, neither team should feel "just lucky to be here".

But at the end of the first period, the Avalanche cut into the deficit, with Mikko Rantanen scoring with a mere 6.8 seconds left on the clock.

MacKinnon, who averages around 25-minutes of skating time a night, missed nearly the entirety of the period but did return before intermission. "And then it goes away".

What the Sharks will need to watch going forward is their limiting of prime opportunities. He's been out since his head slammed against the ice in Game 7 of a first-round series against Vegas.

X-Factor: Alex Pietrangelo is leading the offensive charge from the blueline, but Colton Parayko could make the biggest impact in the conference final. St. Louis has been among the stingiest playoff teams, allowing a mere 29.2 shots against per game, and in no outing was their commitment to insulating goaltender Jordan Binnington more evident than when the Blues surrendered just four shots throughout the final two regulation frames in Game 7 against the Stars.

Tomas Hertl, who assisted on Pavelski's goal, would net the second of the game with an assist from Pavelski in return. There wasn't going to be one guy who won this game and there wasn't. "And it wasn't. It was a big group effort out there". You can have an injury like that and miss months, or have one and be back in a week. It's Game 7 in an National Hockey League series, and those dudes are getting the crowd amped.

What might have ultimately been more painful was the no-goal ruling in the second. The Sharks, however, challenged the goal on the grounds that Gabriel Landeskog, who was on the boards for a line change, was offside.

Elections are a health check for the ANC
South Africans have started voting in presidential and parliamentary elections amid issues of corruption and unemployment. The party that wins the most seats in parliament selects the country's president, who will be sworn in on May 25.

The San Jose Sharks are heading into Round 3 with destiny on their side. The Avs haven't lost back-to-back games since mid-March.

"I was just as surprised as anybody", Landeskog said of the overturned goal. And by "most success", I mean their only success.

"Then we were wondering why they didn't drop the puck and obviously I was still on the ice ..." "Wish I had a set-in-stone answer - go here, do this and be ready". Then hopefully, they'll be rewarded with a win and advance to the next round. Pavelski's presence on the ice might not be a critical factor, but it does merit consideration.

After a miraculous comeback against the Vegas Golden Knights in Round 1, they are back at it on Wednesday night (9 p.m. ET, NBCSN) where they will try to knock out a young, upstart Colorado Avalanche team that is starting to position itself as a major player in the Western Conference.

Still, getting hyped up by some of the strongest, most intimidating men in the country doesn't seem to hurt.

Erik Karlsson, one of the NHL's elite offensive defencemen, is finally looking like his old self after being slowed by a nagging groin injury. The Avalanche are 4-24 in the last 28 meetings in San Jose and 17-35 in the last 52 meetings.

Although their season is toast, you certainly haven't heard the last from this up-and-coming bunch of Avs.

The Colorado Avalanche put it all on the ice in the final minutes of Game 7.

Since he hadn't tagged up at the line, Landeskog was called offside.

The Avs are short on depth, but there is a lot to be optimistic about.
