Director John Singleton hospitalized after suffering stroke

John Singleton, Samuel L. Jackson and Spike Lee

According to a statement from the famed entertainment bosses family, Singleton suffered the stroke on Wednesday while at the hospital in the first place, and he was immediately taken to the intensive care unit, where he is now recovering under the watchful eye of doctors and nurses.

Legendary director John Singleton has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke, but he's under "great medical care", his family said in a statement. John is now in the ICU and under great medical care. A 2009 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found 34 percent of strokes occurred in people who were 65 and younger.

The news prompted friend Snoop Dogg to post a photo of himself and John to Instagram. Fans and celebrities flooded social media with prayers and well wishes for the director and his family when news broke of his stroke.

We hope John Singleton gets better soon.
