Special Briefing: Your (Unredacted) Mueller Report Takeaways | Need to Know

The Mueller report has just been made public. Here's some of what it says

What Happened? On Thursday, the Department of Justice released a 448-page, lightly redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report investigating Russian interference in the 2016 campaign.

Ms Clinton was Mr Trump's Democratic challenger for the presidency in the 2016 USA election.

"Now the tables have turned, and it's time to investigate the liars who instigated this sham investigation into President Trump, motivated by political retribution and based on no evidence whatsoever", said Trump's re-election campaign manager, Brad Parscale.

"The Special Counsel's investigation established that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 presidential election principally through two operations". They knew they could interfere in the election and the Trump campaign would do nothing to stop it or report it.

Russian intelligence operatives reportedly hacked Democratic Party computer networks and the email accounts of Clinton campaign volunteers and employees (including mine). "The campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts", Mueller said. Though the report said "the campaign anticipated receiving derogatory documents and information" from Russians that "could assist Trump's electoral prospects", it said "the government would unlikely be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt" that the participants at that meeting "had general knowledge that their conduct was unlawful".

Mr Mueller's report says he found no criminal conspiracy between Mr Trump's campaign and Russian Federation, but could not reach a concrete legal conclusion on whether Mr Trump tried to obstruct the investigation. But as the Mueller report points out, you can be guilty of obstruction even if your efforts are unsuccessful, and Trump's failure was due largely to his subordinates' resistance.

The president criticised Mr Sessions both privately and publicly, and called upon him to regain control of the investigation. We have so far seen none of the actual evidence that the Special Counsel developed to make this case.

The report states: "If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him".

House Judiciary Democrat Jamie Raskin pointed to Mr Trump's effort to get Mr McGahn to fire Mr Mueller and then lie about being told to do so as an area of interest for lawmakers, and said Mr McGahn and former attorney-general Jeff Sessions could be valuable witnesses as the committee moves forward.

"McGahn did not carry out the direction, however, deciding that he would resign rather than trigger what he regarded as a potential Saturday Night Massacre".

Blackpool Easter bank holiday weekend weather: Temperatures set to soar
Scattered rain showers are expected in New Jersey on Easter Sunday , but forecasters say the day should not be a total washout. Tonight any showers that develop will diminish shortly after sunrise and with decreasing clouds lows will drop in the low 40s.

Celtics rally past Pacers for 2-0 series lead
Things are off to a much different start than in Game 1, where the teams combined to score just 158 points in the entire game. Turnovers could be an issue: Boston committed five which led to 10 points while Indiana's four turnovers led to seven points.

The conclusion of this section, however, is that Trump is neither exonerated nor indicted, a finding trumpeted by Attorney General William Barr last month in a four-page letter to Congress announcing the completion of the investigation.

That has provoked serious questions about whether the president obstructed justice.

"The separation-of-powers doctrine authorises Congress to protect official proceedings, including those of courts and grand juries, from corrupt, obstructive acts regardless of their source".

Later, in a letter to House Democrats, Pelosi vowed: "Congress will not be silent".

"We need the entire report, unredacted, and the underlying documents in order to make informed decisions", chairman Jerrold Nadler said earlier Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America".

"In analysing the president's intent in his actions towards Cohen as a potential witness, there is evidence that could support the inference that the president meant to discourage Cohen from cooperating with the government because Cohen's information would shed adverse light on the president's campaign-period conduct and statements".

The President was also fixated on Mr. Sessions, who had recused himself from overseeing Mr. Mueller's investigation.

"The president slumped back in his chair and said, 'Oh my God". This is the end of my Presidency.

The special counsel is a lawyer within the DOJ, and "this office accepted the OLC's legal conclusion for the goal of exercising prosecutorial jurisdiction", the report says.

Democrats could go into 2020, no matter who ends up as their presidential nominee, with a simple message: Trump should be out of office, as we've been saying for more than a year.

I hate to tell the Democrats, but millions of people worked themselves to the bone a year ago to give them a majority and it wasn't just so they could pass bills the Senate will never take up and the president will never sign.
