Journalists willing participants in Ecuador’s attempt at Assange character assassination

Lenin Moreno said that no other country had an influence over the decision to revoke the Wiki Leaks founder's asylum

Assange is now in custody in London while Swedish officials weigh up whether to reopen an investigation into rape allegations against him.

Assange's relationship with his hosts collapsed after Ecuador accused him of leaking information about Moreno's personal life.

As part of his opening segment on Last Week Tonight Sunday, Oliver stated it's "easy to dislike Julian Assange for a number of reasons" - which he proceeded to tick off.

Julian Assange repeatedly violated his asylum conditions and tried to use the Ecuadorian embassy in London as a "centre for spying", Ecuador's president has said in an interview with the Guardian.

Julian Assange "hit" staff at the Ecuadorean embassy during his seven-year stay after he was granted asylum, The Times has learnt.

"It is unfortunate that, from our territory and with the permission of authorities of the previous government, facilities have been provided within the Ecuadoran embassy in London to interfere in processes of other states", Moreno said.

"We can not allow our house, the house that opened its door to become a centre for spying".

Oliver then detailed Assange's alleged offenses within the embassy, including skateboarding in the hallways, damaging equipment and his cat making a mess.

"The key issue at the moment is United States extradition, which we have warned about for many years", she added.

Assange has had "a very hard time" since Moreno took office in Ecuador in 2017, Robinson said.

In an interview with The Guardian, Moreno said Assange's actions "violate asylum conditions" and the country's decision to evict him was "not abitrary but based on worldwide law".

A longtime associate of the whistleblower, however, told ABC News that he had not seen any evidence of lack of hygiene while visiting Assange, casting doubt on the Ecuadorean government's version of events.

Ecuador's Maria Paula Romo told reporters after Assange's arrest on Thursday that he had been "allowed to do things like put feces on the walls of the embassy and other behaviors of that nature".

Dubbed "Collateral Murder", the footage prompted worldwide concern over the conduct of USA forces stationed in the Middle East, something supporters of WikiLeaks argue remains behind Washington's renewed drive to extradite Assange to face charges in the United States.
