Allison Mack expected to plead guilty in Nxivm sex cult case

Allison Mack of Smallville to Plead Guilty in Nxivm Sex Trafficking Case

"Smallville" actress Allison Mack on Monday pleaded guilty to blackmailing two women as part of an alleged NY sex cult that prosecutors called a racketeering operation that carried out sex trafficking and other crimes.

Appearing in court today in Brooklyn, Mack said (via Vulture), "I have come to the conclusion that I must take full responsibility for my conduct and that's why I am pleading guilty today". She previously pleaded not guilty to the charges, and faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted.

Potential jurors will fill out questionnaires in Brooklyn federal court in the sex trafficking case against Keith Raniere and co-defendants, including "Smallville" actress Allison Mack.

The judge accepted Mack's plea and set her sentencing for September 11. E! As part of the secret group inside NXIVM, known as DOS, women were pressured to have sex with Raniere and brand his initials into their flesh, court papers say. "I am very sorry to my family and to the good people I hurt through my misguided adherence to [Nxivm leader] Keith Raniere's teachings", Mack said.

Mack is best known for her role, playing a young Superman's close friend in the CW network series "Smallville".

The trial for NXIVM leader Keith Raniere was supposed to get underway with jury selection on the morning that his co-accused Allison Mack entered her guilty plea.

Others facing charges include NXIVM bookkeeper Kathy Russell and wealthy Seagram's liquor heiress Clare Bronfman.

In February, a federal judge denied a third request for bail from Raniere, meaning he will remain behind bars until at least April 29 - the scheduled start of his trial on sex trafficking and forced labor charges.

Other NXIVM members reportedly included former "Dynasty" star Catherine Oxenberg's daughter India Oxenberg and "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" star Kristin Kreuk.

There was no mention at the plea hearing of any agreement by Mack to cooperate with prosecutors against Raniere, who is expected to go on trial later this month. She has pleaded not guilty and was released on a $100 million bond, according to the Associated Press.

Bronfman was charged last July with racketeering conspiracy in connection to her involvement with the group.
