The fatally shot deputy was identified at a news conference in Ellensburg on Wednesday as 42-year-old Ryan Thompson. The condition of the officer is unknown.

Last night's officer-involved shooting claimed the life of Kittitas County Sheriff Deputy Ryan Thompson.

A Kittitas County Sheriff's Deputy was shot and killed and another officer was injured after a driver they were pursuing got out of the auto and began shooting, the sheriff's office said.

Police have yet to publicly name the suspect.

A deputy with the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office was killed in the line of duty Tuesday evening in the City of Kittitas. Thompson was born and raised in Walla Walla and was a reserve deputy who worked in corrections and with the sheriff's office close to 15 years.

Other law-enforcement officers have shared condolences for the Kittitas deputy and officer.
