There he goes again: More Trump tweets on GM

President Donald Trump stepped up his criticism of General Motors in an effort to get the company to reopen or sell its Lordstown Ohio plant to someone who would operate

GM respondedlate Sunday to a series of angry tweets from President Donald Trump demanding that the automaker reopen or sell a plant it recently closed because of shifting customer demand.

Trump acknowledged his conversation with Barra in a tweet Sunday after he fumed in other tweets about the Lordstown, Ohio, plant shutting down.

More than 16 million vehicles were made at the Lordstown plant during its 53-year history until GM closed it earlier this month as part of a massive reorganization.

GM says Cruze sales in foreign countries have remained stable, fallen less sharply than in the USA or even increased, as is the case in South America.

President Donald Trump says he has spoken to General Motors CEO Mary Barra to vent his frustration about the automaker's closure of an OH manufacturing plant while the USA economy continues to fare well. "G.M. let our Country down, but other much better auto companies are coming into the U.S.in droves", Trump tweeted Sunday.

"MUST ACT QUICKLY", Trump wrote on Twitter. He followed with "I want action in Lordstown fast. Stop complaining and get the job done!" "I want jobs to stay in the United States of America and want Lordstown (Ohio), in one of the best economies in our history, opened or sold to a company who will open it up fast!" he writes.

But GM's continued layoffs raised tensions between the president and the CEO of General Motors, who was once considered a possible Vice President candidate by failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The union is the United Automobile Workers, which represents the employees who lost their jobs in the Lordstown closure.

General Motors stock (GM) skyrocketed following the announcement, but elected officials were far less pleased.

There was no mentioned about the GM plant in Oshawa which is scheduled to close at the end of this year. He may have been referring in part to Toyota's announcement last week that it would make a roughly $750 million investment across five of its existing U.S. plants, adding almost 600 new jobs, which Trump celebrated on Twitter.

Lordstown is the first of the four USA plants GM is closing following its November announcement of a major restructuring.
