Frequent drinkers of sugary beverages more likely to die early

CNN: Study Links Sugary Drinks to Higher Risk of Premature Death

Individuals in America may have diminished their reliance on sugary beverages, yet it is still considered one of the single biggest wellsprings of included sugar in the USA diet and their utilization is on the ascent around the globe.

The more sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) a person drank, the more risks of early death from any cause increased, according to the study. Compared with drinking SSBs less than once per month, drinking one to four sugary drinks per month was linked with a 1% increased mortality risk.

A 2017 study also found that people who consume at least one diet soda every day have almost three times the risk for dementia.

The researchers, however, found that drinking four or more of artificially sweetened beverages per day is also associated with increased risk of mortality particularly in women. Each additional serving per day of SSBs was linked with a 10 percent increased higher risk of CVD-related death.

Consuming artificially sweetened drinks should not be assumed to be safe, as they only slightly reduced the risk of early death, and there was a link found between higher levels of ASB consumption and an increased in overall mortality due to early cardiovascular disease among women.

World's most expensive city in 2019 is a 3-way tie
The average cost of a haircut in Paris is $119.04 as compared to $763.97 in Zurich and $53.46 in Japan's Osaka. Asian and European cities again claimed several spots in the top 10 this year.

Participants who consumed 2-6 sugar-sweetened beverages per week were 6% more likely to die.

"Our results provide further support to limit intake of SSBs and to replace them with other beverages, preferably water, to improve overall health and longevity", study lead author Vasanti Malik, a research scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health's Department of Nutrition, said in a statement. They controlled for other dietary variables, physical action and weight list so any impact estimated could be autonomously connected with sugar-sweetened beverages.

"And the powerful evidence that type 2 diabetes risk increases with the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages is a major premature death risk factor itself", said the same Harvard institution's epidemiology and nutrition professor, Dr. Walter Willett, a co-author.

The more sugary drinks you consume, the more likely you are to die early, according to a new study. These results were obtained from a sample of both men and women.

American Beverage Association spokesperson told CNN: "We don't think anyone should overconsume sugar, that's why we're working to reduce the sugar people consume from beverages across the country".
