Former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel signs player agreement with AAF

Johnny Manziel reportedly signs agreement to play in the AAF

The Alliance of American Football announced Saturday night that it has signed the quarterback and that he was claimed on waivers by the Memphis Express after the San Antonio Commanders relinquished his rights.

Manziel, the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns and a recent Canadian Football League flameout, signed an agreement Saturday to play in the Alliance of American Football, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

He played just two seasons with the team before he was released.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy victor at Texas A&M had his contract with the CFL terminated last month.

Manziel was offered the chance to start working out with AAF teams earlier this month, and was reportedly contacted by the league within 24 hours of him being banned from the CFL.

No Man's Sky 'Beyond' update announced
There won't be a subscription or microtransactions , and the feature will be free for all existing players. Hello Games has released a number of large updates since the game's rocky launch in 2016.

In Memphis, Manziel could get an opportunity to play quickly. The Express lost to the Salt Lake Stallions 22-9 in Week 6, losing quarterback Zach Mettenberger to an apparent ankle injury on their first offensive play. Mettenberger had replaced Christian Hackenberg as Memphis' starter, so coach Mike Singletary could look to Manziel to lead his squad.

He was taken with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 National Football League draft by Cleveland.

Manziel spent the 2018 season in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes, where he appeared in eight games, throwing for five touchdowns and seven interceptions. The CFL also effectively barred Manziel from joining any other team in the league.

Johnny Manziel is playing in a new football league. Manziel had sought treatment for anger management and alcohol abuse as part of his acquittal on a 2016 charge of domestic violence.

Manziel was due a $75,000 bonus March 1 and scheduled to earn a $202,000 base salary in 2019.
