Chiefs' Hill under investigation for alleged battery incident

Tyreek Hill

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is reportedly under investigation for an alleged incident involving his fiancee and their son. According to Overland Park police, the case was closed three days later when prosecution was declined. No charges have been filed against Hill, and Johnson County prosecutor's spokeswoman Kristi Bergeron didn't immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

The Overland Park Police Department report lists a juvenile as the victim, according to the KC Star.

"We're in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities", the statement says.

One source provided some details about the incident, saying that the victim is actually Hill's 3-year-old son, and it is believed he actually suffered a broken arm. It's unclear exactly when the incident took place, but the report is dated Thursday.

The Kansas City Chiefs said Friday they are aware of the investigation.

As part of his plea agreement for the domestic abuse charge, Hill attended a 52-week batterer intervention course and was supervised for two years. The team and the star receiver have been discussing a large contract extension that's expected to make him among the highest-paid players at his position.

Hill and Espinal, who were engaged in September, have history. He reportedly punched and choked Espinal, who was then eight weeks pregnant with their son, on December 11, 2014. He was kicked off the Oklahoma State football team and received a deferred three-year sentence that was later expunged from his record in 2018.

Following the incident with Espinal, Hill went to therapy and went to counseling for anger management.

The conviction was dismissed in August 2018 after Hill completed his probation requirements.
