NFL suspends Browns running back Kareem Hunt for eight games

Browns running back Kareem Hunt has been suspended for eight games by the NFL for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy in connection with physical altercations in Cleveland in February 2018 and at an OH resort in June 2018, Browns officials confirmed in a news release Friday morning.

Hunt will not appeal the punishment handed down by the league, advising the NFL "he accepts responsibility for his conduct and the discipline that has been imposed".

Hunt was released last season by the Kansas City Chiefs after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking and pushing a woman.

The Chiefs had been aware of the incident, but after the video clip emerged said that Hunt "had not been truthful" in his discussions with the team about the row. Because of the incident, Cleveland's decision to bring Hunt onboard led to a great deal of controversy. I'm grateful for my time with the Browns over the last month and thankful to all the people in the organization that have welcomed me.

Hunt was on the commissioner's exempt list since November 30 during the NFL's investigation into a physical altercation captured by an OH hotel surveillance system in which Hunt shoved to the ground and kicked a woman.

Do you agree with Hunt's eight-game suspension? I also appreciate all of the support I received from my union through this process.

"The findings followed a detailed investigation by the National Football League, which included reviewing available law enforcement records, video and electronic communications, interviews with numerous witnesses and multiple interviews with Hunt", the National Football League said in a news release.

The league said Hunt has told them he's committed to "available resources" and he has pledged to live up his obligations.

Hunt rushed for 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns in two years with Kansas City and is widely considered one of the best running backs in the league.

Hunt's Browns will play the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium at some point during the 2018 season. The findings followed a detailed investigation by the National Football League, which included reviewing available law enforcement records, video and electronic communications, interviews with numerous witnesses, and multiple interviews with Hunt. "We thought at the appropriate time with all the information we did have, how truly remorseful he was and. knowing when he comes here there are no guarantees, he's going to earn your respect with his actions".

Because the suspension is one without pay, Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of his base salary.
