James Gunn reinstated as 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' director

James Gunn Marvel Guardians

Today, it was reported Disney reinstated James Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 months after cutting ties with the filmmaker over offensive tweets he wrote years ago, which were brought back into the public sphere by right-wing commentators.

Walt Disney Studios president Alan Horn reportedly met with James on multiple occasions to discuss the situation following his apology, and chose to reverse the decision. The first two Guardians films by James Gunn made over $1.6 billion worldwide. Multiple reports confirm that Gunn is now officially back in the director's chair for this next installment in the comic book franchise - a huge reversal of Disney's decision that sparked a passionate outcry from Guardians cast members. He will then move onto Guardians once he completes work on the DC supervillain team-up.

After Gunn issued a public apology, Horn made a decision to reinstate the director. In July of past year, alt-right provocateur Mike Cernovich drew attention to a series of tasteless tweets Gunn made a decade before Disney hired him, stupid thoughtless jokes about pedophaelia and rape and the Holocaust.

This will please all Guardians of the Galaxy and James Gunn fans and we hope that this gets confirmed by Marvel soon.

Greenland Ice Cores Reveal Massive Solar Storm Hit Earth 2,700 Years Ago
Evidence of an enormous solar storm that struck the Earth around 2,610 years ago has been found in ice cores from Greenland . Two severe solar storms in modern times caused extensive power cuts in Quebec, Canada, in 1989 and Malmo, Sweden, in 2003 .

Cyclone Idai to hit Zimbabwe
The storm is expected to make landfall Thursday night near Beira, Mozambique's fourth largest city, with 530,000 residents. Moreover, heavy rains, flash floods, and high velocity winds will remain a highlight throughout the storm's lifespan.

Gunn publicly apologized, saying that his "words of almost a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative".

James Gunn is getting a second chance. Marvel never really made moves to hire another director as replacement and confirmed they would use Gunn's script, which he had already written prior to being fired. The first two films have made more than $1.5 billion United States in worldwide ticket sales.

The "Guardians" cast released an open letter later that month in full support of Gunn and the movie's star, Chris Pratt, personally said he'd "love to see him reinstated as director of Volume 3". Filming was scheduled to start this Fall in Atlanta, but will likely be delayed until after The Suicide Squad is finished with production.
