Dolphins agree to 2-year contract with wide receiver DeVante Parker

DeVante Parker

The Dolphins released Danny Amendola last week in order to clear $6 million in cap space, Miami was exploring free-agent receivers like Phillip Dorsett and Chris Hogan, but Parker's resigning likely ends those possibilities.

The contract is reportedly for $13 million over the two years.

Without knowing the contract specifics, I would overwhelmingly say that it is.

Is this a good thing for Parker?

Injuries have limited Parker to just 31 starts during his four years in the league following an impressive collegiate career at Louisville. Former head coach Adam Gase had kept Parker on the bench a few times past year, despite Parker believing that he was healthy enough to play. It was no secret that Parker and his agent didn't see eye-to-eye with how Gase handled his time in Miami; especially towards the end of a year ago.

Six Nations considers £500m offer from CVC Capital Partners
Top players across the world are more attuned to their own welfare and safety than ever before. A new global season is due to kick off next year, running until 2032.

What does this mean going forward?

The new deal comes as somewhat of a surprise, after the Dolphins unsuccessfully tried to trade Parker at last year's trade deadline.

The deal replaces a fifth-year option worth $9.4 million that Miami was not expected to pick up. He joins a receiving group that has Jakeem Grant and Albert Wilson coming back from injuries.

For all the negativity that has come from fans and media lately, it's nice to cover a "win/win" situation for this team for a change.
