In the middle of the road sat a squirming bundle; the 21-year-old could hear the screams over his auto radio, turned low as he delivered newspapers in Madera Ranchos, Calif., early Monday, per the Fresno Bee. But when he approached the object, he realized it was a newborn baby dressed in a onesie without a diaper, he toldThe Fresno Bee.

Aurelio Fuentes, who found the infant, said he heard her crying and screaming. "And I was like". "OK, you know, this is a baby". But "as soon as I got out of the auto, I realized it was a real baby", he said.

Fuentes told the Fresno Bee her umbilical cord was still attached. He picked up the baby and called 911, staying on scene until CHP arrived.

The little girl was then rushed by ambulance to Valley Children's Hospital, where she remains in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit but is said to be "doing well".
