Paul Scholes to be confirmed as Oldham Athletic manager on Monday

Paul Scholes is expected to be named manager of Sky Bet League Two side Oldham

The EFL confirmed on Friday there would be no impediment to Scholes taking the job, as is expected, despite the former Manchester United and England player owning a 10 per cent stake in Salford City, who are fifth in the National League table and pushing for promotion to Sky Bet League Two.

The law guiding the league says anyone with conflict of interest will not be allowed to take any role, and since the former midfielder keeps ten percent of shares at Salford, it became hard.

He was due to be unveiled at a 2pm press conference, however the club moved the announcement forward by an hour and a half.
