'I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing'

But host Pete Hegseth may now have managed to upset the famously germaphobic president - by revealing that he has not washed his hands in a decade.

"Pizza Hut lasts for a long time", Hegseth replied, defending himself.

"I inoculate myself", he continued.

Speaking on Fox and Friends, Mr Hegseth said the infectious micro-organisms did not exist because they could not be seen with the naked eye. "Really, I don't really wash my hands ever", Hegseth stated on Sunday's episode of the show, possibly as his cohosts anticipated chugging bottles of Purell. Hegseth went on to say in the clip, "Really, I don't wash my hands ever". That is when he admitted, "I don't think I've washed my hands for 10 years".

One wrote: 'I think I'm going to throw up. "Therefore the're not real", Hegseth said.

Hegseth then took his rant even further arguing his unsanitary habits gave him an immunity against sickness.

Leeds' Clarke to continue recovery at home after falling ill at Middlesbrough
Hopefully, they can continue to channel some of that spirit until the end of the season and get back to the top-flight.

Hegseth's thinking is at-odds with science which has long confirmed that germs, and microbes live nearly everywhere: on food, animals, and plants, in the air, and in soil and water and on people's hands.

Revolting: 'My 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air.

Plenty of teachers also mocked his claims with one joking that he'd learn about germs if he spent anytime in a children's classroom: 'Spend some time as a teacher in a kindergarten class, trust me, you'll wash your hands!'

While Hegseth may believe he's discovered the key to a strong immune system, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) still recommends frequent hand-washing with soap and running water.

It should be noted, according to the CDC handwashing can help prevent illness.

Washing hands thoroughly is advised before preparing or eating food, after coughing or sneezing, after changing a diaper, and after using the toilet. 'That's disgusting!' said another.
