Ginsburg to miss next week's Supreme Court sessions, but recovery 'on track'

Still recovering from her recent lung surgery at home, Justice Ginsburg was unable to attend oral arguments this week for the first time in her career on the Supreme Court.

Ginsburg missed three days of arguments this week, the first time that's happened since she joined the court in 1993.

Doctors have said Ginsburg's cancer has been completely removed and that she is on track for recovery.

Just before Christmas, Justice Ginsburg had a pulmonary lobectomy to remove two cancerous nodules from her lungs.

She's the subject of a Hollywood biopic and is very much alive, but the White House has been in contact with Senate Republicans about possible replacements for the ailing 85-year old Supreme Court justice. She was released from the hospital in NY four days later and has been recuperating at home since then.

"The White House is urging outside allies to be prepared for another bruising confirmation battle should Ginsberg's health take a sudden turn for the worse, according to four sources with knowledge of the overtures", Politico reports.

Google Launches Google Maps Assistant Integration for Android and iOS
Google also had a massive booth to showcase how the Assistant works with products from TVs to auto dashboards. Google's push "is mostly a fight between Google and Amazon" for this huge market, Enderle told TechNewsWorld.

The White House 'is taking the temperature on possible short-list candidates, reaching out to key stakeholders, and just making sure that people are informed on the process, ' a source told the publication. On Friday afternoon, Washington Post reporter Robert Barnes tweeted that the Supreme Court announced Ginsburg has no remaining signs of cancer and will need no additional treatment.

"I$3 f you are replacing Justice Ginsburg with a Trump appointee, that would be akin to replacing Thurgood Marshall with Clarence Thomas", Malcolm said.

With Gorsuch, protestations over the denial of Obama nominee Merrick Garland forced Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to implement the nuclear option-a simple 50-vote majority rather than a 60-vote, filibuster-proof super-majority.

Politico said numerous prospective nominees to replace Ginsburg were women, which theoretically would derail the likelihood of sexual-assault claims such as those faced by Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh.

"I said I will do this job as long as I can do it full steam", Ginsburg said last month during an interview following a New York City screening of "On the Basis of Sex", a feature film about her years as a young lawyer.
