White Sox acquire 1B Alonso in trade with Indians

Yonder Alonso of Cleveland Indians traded to Chicago White Sox

The Indians continue to wheel and deal.

Last season, he hit 23 home runs with 83 RBIs. A nine-year veteran, Alonso was an All-Star in 2017, when he hit 28 home runs and had 67 RBIs for the Oakland A's and Seattle Mariners.

In exchange, the White Sox will send minor-league outfielder Alex Call back to Cleveland.

First baseman Yonder Alonso was traded to the Chicago White Sox by the Cleveland Indians on Friday in a deal between AL Central rivals that could have broad implications for both teams the rest of the offseason.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is in his third arbitration year this season but there have been discussions about possibly trading him.

Cost Of Clean-Up From Camp, Woolsey Fires To Top $3 Billion
The Camp Fire ravaged an area the size of Chicago, destroying 14,000 residences and taking more than 17 days to contain. State and federal authorities estimated Tuesday that it will cost at least $3 billion to clear debris.

There's still plenty that think that premiere slugger and top free agent Bryce Harper might end up in Chicago, and another huge free agent that might end up in the Windy City is that of Manny Machado, who is Alonso's brother-in-law.

The Indians have been very active in the trade market.

They have added Daniel Johnson (trade), Carlos Santana (trade), Jefry Rodriguez (trade), Jordan Luplow (trade), Max Moroff (trade), and Jake Bauers (trade).

The team is also reportedly still looking for trade partners for pitchers Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer.
