Teacher’s Pet’ Podcast Drops New Ep In Aftermath Of Chris Dawson’s Arrest

On Thursday in Sydney 70-year-old Chris Dawson was charged with the murder of his former wife, Lynette Dawson, nearly four decades after her disappearance in January of 1982.

Dawson denies killing his wife and says she left home to have some time to herself.

Lynette Dawson's disappearance in 1982 has been the subject of a popular crime podcast that has highlighted the case across the world.

Lynette's husband Chris, who has always been a suspect in his wife's disappearance, was taken into custody at a home in Biggera Waters on the Gold Coast just before 8am Wednesday.

Dawson appeared via video link at Central Local Court on Thursday where his solicitor indicated his defendant will enter a plea of not guilty.

The case has attracted intense interest in Australia and internationally, largely as a result of The Teacher's Pet podcast.

Officers were today expected to extradite him to Sydney, where he will be charged with the murder.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller spoke with Ben Fordham following Wednesday's development.

Dawson did not report his wife missing for six weeks, and said that he thought she might have run away to join a religious cult.

It is believed the arrest follows new information provided by Dawson's teenage lover at the time, Joanne Curtis. CHRIS Dawson has been formally charged with murder, more than 30 years after his wife's suspicious disappearance.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court and made an application for bail, which was denied by Magistrate Dennis Kinsella, who said there was an unacceptable risk of failing to appear.

"I have said from the start, what is important to me was justice for Lynette Dawson and her family", he said. "There is a long road in front of us in bringing Lyn home, but this is a big step".

Mr Fuller declared "we certainly won't give up on that search" for Mrs Dawson's remains.
