Galaxy S10 Patent Suggests Samsung Could Kill The Notch

Samsung may have narrowed down the Galaxy S10’s design - GSMArena.com news

It's also possible that the foldable Samsung Galaxy S may be launched at the same time as the Galaxy S10, and perhaps be made available the following month, in March, with a 5G version of the S10. However, thanks to a new patent filed by the technology jumbo-corp, we now have a much clearer idea exactly what those design changes are likely to be. Although, we just got a glimpse of the device and its interface.

Samsung, it turns out, is serious about what it calls Infinity-O displays in marketing materials, and we received one other major teaser from the company that seems to indicate the Galaxy S10 will feature one of these Infinity-O screens. According to the publication, manufacturing the new screens for the Galaxy S10 is more problematic compared to the old method of simply creating bezels for the cameras and sensors to nest. Huawei and Samsung are the only ones we know that are working on a foldable device but it probably won't be long before other big smartphone makers follow with their own devices. Samsung Display is now developing these screens using diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers to drill holes in displays, the report says. How this rumored technique to manufacture the potential screens for the Galaxy S10 will affect the units pricing has not been discussed.

The patent submission shows several images and diagrams proposed for the design of Galaxy S10, with different notch designs. Usually, leaksters manage to get their hands on press renders of upcoming smartphones, but this time, something better has surfaced on the web. The device will feature Exynos 9820 and Android 9 Pie. Samsung last week also hinted that the Infinity-O screens might feature a hole on one of the sides.

Samsung is looking into a number of patents and handset designs. And to round out the leak community's speculation on the Galaxy S10's "Infinity-O" screen, known concept renderer Ben Geskin shares his take on what the "Punch Hole" screen for the Galaxy S10 would look like.

The Samsung Galaxy J8 was released earlier this year and features an upper budget class octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC on- board which was paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
