Browns' stunning option for next head coach: Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice

The Browns would like to interview former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head-coaching job, a league source tells ESPN.

Cleveland GM John Dorsey said last week he was open to hiring a woman for the position vacated by the fired Hue Jackson, as Cleveland has had a merry-go-round of failed coaches this century. The position opened up after former head coach Hue Jackson was turfed October 29.

While those talks never materialized, the Browns interest in Rice as a head coach, seems genuine. But Rice has been an outspoken activist within the sports community. She also recently chaired a commission on college basketball, which recommended significant changes to the sport.

Disc-less Xbox One could be in the works
The device will allegedly serve as a bridging product ahead of the 2020 release of the next-gen Scarlett family of devices. According to Thurott.com , Microsoft will be releasing an Xbox One console that doesn't feature a disc tray.

Despite growing up in Alabama, Rice, 64, has been a lifelong Browns fan who has always been as comfortable in sports as she is in politics and academia. Just as anyone - male or female - would be if they have zero football coaching experience. Rice has also been rumored as a potential candidate for NFL Commissioner, should that job open up. She was on the first College Football Playoff Committee and was a committee member from 2013 to 2016. But interviewing with the Browns could be a step in that direction, too, according to ESPN.

The question, of course, is why would the Browns be interested in Rice, who served as Secretary of State under former President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2009?
