The Doctor Who Christmas special has been a staple in the BBC's festive TV line-up since the series was revived in 2005.

Whittaker made history as the first female Doctor in the franchise.

Kick off 2019 in spectacular style with a New Year's Day special episode of Doctor Who on Tuesday, January 1, moving from its traditional Christmas Day timeslot.

Leading up to the first-ever "Who Year's Day", BBC America will present a Doctor Who marathon of all the Christmas episodes, starting at noon ET on December 24.

The finale of the current season will air on December 9.on BBC AMERICA.

Fury after teenager’s G-string was used as evidence in a rape trial
In Cork, where the trial took place, an estimated 200 people gathered to march on the courthouse and lay underwear on its steps. She only held the underwear up for a brief moment, and the camera quickly pulled back from her as she did so.

Showrunner Chris Chibnall said, "We're thrilled to be starting the New Year with a bang, as Jodie Whittaker's Doctor and friends face a terrifying alien threat in an action-packed, hour-long special adventure for all the family". As it turns out, the show will trade in Christmas for New Year's Day, and as you can see in the slides below, netizens are feeling rathe conflicted.

Previous recent rumblings in British tabloids have now been confirmed: After Doctor Who's currently airing 11th season comes to a close early next month, it'll follow up with a New Year's Day special instead.

The whispers I've heard coming out of the Tardis are that while there's a recognition that fans might want a series every single year, Doctor Who has nearly uniquely complex filming requirements and a lengthy post-production period.

Jodie's debut series as the Doctor is attracting the show's highest average TV audience for almost 10 years.

The Christmas Day edition of Doctor Who has been a TV fixture since Christopher Eccleston ushered in the show's current era.
