Google hires David Feinberg to oversee all health projects

Change in Leadership at Geisinger

David Feinberg leaving the health system for Google, one question now is how the new stronger partnership with Evangelical Community Hospital would continue.

Google has now hired former Geisinger CEO David Feinberg to oversee all health initiatives at the company, including products still under development.

Meanwhile, Jaewon Ryu has been appointed as interim president and CEO of Geisinger, effective December 1, 2018.

Feinberg's role will be to coordinate the health initiatives Google has underway, including the work happening in artificial intelligence and devices, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Board Chairman John C. Bravman, PhD, thanked Feinberg for his services and wished him well in his new role at Google. "I look forward to following Geisinger's achievements in the years to come and will remain forever grateful to have had this tremendous opportunity".

Meanwhile, Nelson's campaign filed suit against the state over its process for validating vote-by-mail ballots. A judge then ruled midday on Friday that Snipes' office was required to give Scott the requested information.

During his tenure at Geisinger, Stanziano said Feinberg championed an emphasis on patient experience, which has resulted in positive reviews from patients that receive care in the system. Ryu is a practicing emergency medicine physician and an attorney.

A representative from Google on Friday referred Business Insider to Dean's tweet but didn't comment further on the hire.

The company recently hosted a two-day conference for employees working in health at Google, as well as its Alphabet subsidiaries.

Meanwhile, Google was also rumoured to be taking over Nokia's digital health unit earlier this year, but missed out on that opportunity as it returned to the business' initial owner Éric Carreel.

Alphabet, Google's parent company, has a number of bets in healthcare ranging from Verily, its life sciences arm that's developing everything from glucose-monitoring contact lenses to surgical robots, to Calico, its life-extension spinoff. Feinberg took himself out of the running this summer to be considered CEO of the healthcare venture launched by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase.
