Facebook Just Launched An Awesome New Application

Facebook launches Lasso to take on TikTok

"Lasso is a new standalone app for short-form, entertaining videos - from comedy to beauty to fitness and more", a Facebook spokesperson told Gizmodo in a statement by email. The app now allows users to cross-post their videos to Stories on Facebook, and the company said it would soon allow users to share their Lasso videos to Instagram Stories as well.

Facebook has (very) quietly launched a brand new app called "Lasso", which is meant to offer up a new platform for users to create short, 15-second videos that can be easily shared to others. It includes hashtags and the ability to discover popular content by hashtags, as well as browsing top creators on the platform, etc. About half of United States teenagers say they use Facebook, a decrease of 20 percentage points from 2015, according to Pew.

Equipped with video-editing tools, the app allows users to add text as well as music to their videos.

Lasso has been made available to US users first as Facebook tries to compete with the likes of other similar platforms like Snapchat and YouTube.

Not just that, Jones revealed that he's planning on giving No. 4 a contract extension to make sure he doesn't go anywhere. Of course, the Cowboys would have to struggle once again to pick high enough for either passer to be a possibility.

Lasso is available on iOS and Android, and users can log in using Facebook or Instagram.

You have probably heard of the app TikTok by now, which has been downloaded a lot of times, but Facebook would very much like to chew into that lead.

There has been no word about the global release of the app from Facebook as yet.

The move comes after Facebook already took on Snapchat with the debut of stories, photos, and videos that appear for 24 hours on a user's profile on both Facebook and Instagram. They can share their videos directly from the app to their Facebook Stories, with the feature to share them as Instagram Stories coming soon.
