Florida is again at the center of an election controversy

Orlando Florida. U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, who was campaigning in the area and outgoing Republican Florida Gov. Ric

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is not actively investigating any matters related to Tuesday's election, a department spokesperson said Friday, after it was informed by the Florida Department of State that there have been no allegations of criminal activity.

Senator Nelson filed his own lawsuit on Friday against the Florida secretary of state in order to ensure all provisional and mail-in ballots that were initially disregarded due to signature mismatches are validated in the recount.

Scott on Thursday night said voters "should be concerned there may be rampant fraud happening" in the two counties.

State law mandates a recount if the difference in a race is within 0.5 percent.

Republican Rick Scott, who claimed victory on Tuesday, is suing officials over an election recount.

If machine recounts are ordered, they must be completed by 3:00 p.m. November 15. Scott accused Nelson of bringing in an attorney to "try to steal the election and try to thwart the will of the voters of Florida".

Lawyers for Snipes argued that requiring such a swift response would interfere with ongoing efforts to finish counting Broward County ballots.

The state is infamous for its role in the 2000 presidential election, which was won by Republican George W. Bush after a five-week recount drama that awarded him Florida's electoral votes by a 537-ballot margin over Democrat Al Gore.

"If you look at Broward County, they have had a disgusting history", Trump added, referring to a Democrat-heavy county where officials were slowly counting votes including absentee and provisional ballots.

In Riviera Beach, the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board met Friday morning to review "anomalous" ballots not yet counted because of irregularities that prevented a machine-reading.

Trump echoed Scott's claims Thursday night, tweeting that "Law Enforcement" would look into election fraud in Florida.

The divide between Scott and Nelson is now within the.25 percent margin needed to ensure the race would first go to a machine recount and then, if the margin holds, a hand recount.

DeSantis and Scott were initially believed to be the winners of their respective races.

Nelson's lawyer predicted the recounts would benefit other Democratic candidates as well as the incumbent senator.

"You mean they are just now finding votes in Florida and Georgia - but the Election was on Tuesday?" He also requests Saturday's deadline to canvas ballots be extended until the legal matter is resolved.

The 93-year-old was among 509 voters in Lee County who had been given a provisional ballot.

A group of about 30 sign-holding Republican protesters gathered outside the office of Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, singing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America".

Protesters held signs that said, "Brenda Snipes has to go", "stop creating votes" and "don't steal our election".

Not only does it seem like this led to confusion, this exact problem was anticipated by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission more than a decade ago.

"Every day since the election the leftwing activists in Broward county have been coming up with more and more ballots out of nowhere", Scott said in his press conference.

"In the 2016 Election I was winning by so much in Florida that Broward County, which was very late with vote tabulation and probably getting ready to do a 'number, ' couldn't do it because not enough people live in Broward for them to falsify a victory!"
