Amazon will open separate HQ2 locations in 2 different cities

Amazon Exec Rips `Leaking&apos to Bezos&apos Post on Headquarters

At the time of writing, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Amazon may be splitting its future HQ2 across two cities, with 25,000 employees in each.

The company still hasn't decided on which cities would get the nod, according to insiders, but a choice could come as soon as this week.

The long-awaited decision has yet to be made, but the Journal, citing a person familiar with the decision making process, reported that the internet retail titan will choose two locations for their newest headquarters. The Journal reported over the weekend that Amazon was in "late-state discussions" with Crystal City in Virginia, Dallas and New York City.

An Amazon spokesman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Amazon has not confirmed either report. Shortly after the Post published its story, Mike Grella, Amazon's economic development director posted on Twitter, "Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as #HQ2 selection".

In January, Chicago made the list of 20 finalists from across the nation for the online retailer's "HQ2", a new campus equivalent to its original Seattle headquarters where the company says it expects "to invest over $5 billion in construction and grow this second headquarters to include as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs". "And stop treating the (nondisclosure agreement) you signed like a used napkin".

The Wall Street Journal responded with a story yesterday saying Dallas and NY are still talking with Amazon, too. Both the city and county plan to appeal that decision.
