Viral video captures man's racist tirade on flight in Barcelona

Ugly black b******’ Passenger launches racist rant at woman on Ryanair flight

He called the Jamaican-born woman a "stupid, ugly cow" and an "ugly black bastard", and told her not to speak to him in a "foreign language" even though she was speaking English.

As the incident escalated, the woman's daughter confronted the man in her mother's defense, as a flight attendant attempted to defuse the entire ordeal.

"I tell you, I hope somebody sits there", the man tells the elderly woman, gesturing toward the empty middle seat between them.

The woman's daughter said she had taken her mother, a Windrush Generation migrant who came to the United Kingdom from Jamaica in the 1960s, on holiday to mark a year since the death of her husband.

THIS IS THE Ryanair passenger that was ALLOWED to racially and physically abuse an elderly woman and then WALK AWAY...

There have been more than 3,500 replies to Ryanair's tweeted statement, many of which criticise the airline's handling of the incident.

Staff on the flight seemed to do little to silence the man during the footage, leaving a passenger in the row behind to try and deal with the situation.

"Mum's really feeling upset and very stressed about this situation, on top of the grief that she's already experiencing".

The video was originally posted to Facebook on Friday, the day of the flight, Bloomberg reports, where it went viral, receiving more than 4 million views.

Mrs. Gayle moved to the United Kingdom from Jamaica in the 1960s and was on vacation with her daughter to mark the first anniversary of her husband's death. "Don't shout at her, that's my mother, she's disabled", Lawrence recalled of the exchange between the daughter and the racist man.

Gayle was unable to move out of her aisle seat quickly enough to let the man sit down in his window seat, and then he began using abusive and racist remarks on her.

"Stop", the man in the black shirt pleads.

On Sunday, a spokesperson for Ryanair told RT that the incident has been reported to Essex Police, but did not comment on the airline's policy for protecting passengers from racism or verbal abuse.

"We operate strict guidelines for disruptive passengers and we will not tolerate unruly behavior like this", Ryanair said in a statement to BBC News.

David Lawrence, the man who filmed the incident on the flight, has come under criticism online for his decision to film what happened rather than intervene, but he said acted like he did so people would know what happened.

People on Twitter blasted the company's response. The two say they will never fly with Ryanair again. I go to my bed and say 'what have I done?' I haven't done anything for you to attack me.

"I don't know how to go forward or where to take this". "As this is now a police matter, we can not comment further". He added: 'He should have been removed immediately from the aircraft and handed over to the Spanish authorities.
