‘Halloween’ grabs one of the biggest horror openings ever

New 'Halloween' Has A Record Breaking Opening Weekend

Curtis shared the news in a tweet, writing that she's "going for one BOAST post".

The only other R-rated horror film to best Halloween's showing was 2017's It, which earned $123.4 million in its first week, but the film did ultimately reign supreme among Halloween-themed movies opening around the holiday.

Movie theater attendance was up overall the last few days, with this particular weekend (42nd of the year) posting record-breaking ticket sales of about 18.2 million, the highest on record (that is, since 1982).

Cast member Jamie Lee Curtis poses at a premiere for the movie "Halloween" in Los Angeles, California, U.S., October 17, 2018. That means director David Gordon Green's sequel/reboot is not just the highest-grossing film in the decades-spanning Halloween franchise, but the biggest opening for a slasher movie ever, adjusted for inflation.

It could be the biggest name in world cricket, English cricket, any cricket - don't just sit there and say "It can't be him". The alleged player, whose voice was distorted in the documentary for legal reasons, responds: "Lovely".

"Halloween", which is a direct follow-up to the original "Halloween" and skips over the sequels in between, has been well-received by critics, with an 80 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Horror-master John Carpenter was executive producer and was joined by lead producer Jason Blum (Get Out and The Purge), so you can probably see why the film is doing so well. It's also the biggest Blumhouse debut, beating out Paranormal Activity 3 ($52.5 million), and according to Forbes "is the fourth-biggest horror movie/scary movie launch ever (sans inflation) behind only It ($123m), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($150m) and Jurassic World ($208m)".

Meanwhile, Fox expanded YA drama "The Hate U Give" to 2,303 screens.

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's new movie, A Star Is Born, held on to the second spot for its third weekend with approximately $19.3 million. He also insisted that this "Halloween" will be the final sequel. The studio had expected an opening north of $50 million. This coming Friday's openers aren't too promising, either, though Halloween should have a strong second weekend ahead of the titular holiday next Wednesday. That's the best opening ever for the 40-year-old slasher series.
