Kristen Bell says 'Snow White' kiss sends controversial message about consent

Actress Kristen Bell attends the premiere of Netflix's

Kristen Bell says she's creeped out by some of the messaging in the classic fairytale "Snow White".

Kristen Bell claims Snow White sends the wrong message about consent to children because she is asleep when the prince kisses her.

While speaking with Parents, Bell discussed how she reads to her young daughters Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3, every night.

Knightly told Ellen DeGeneres that she loved to watch "The Little Mermaid" growing up but claimed that Ariel's decision to give her voice to the villain, Ursula, as she pursued Prince Eric was a bad example to children.

"Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask: 'Don't you think that it's weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?'"

'I say, "I would never take food from a stranger, would you?"

Bell, who is working on a children's book of her own, said no matter how little time she has, she is always trying to teach her children. "'Because you can not kiss someone if they're sleeping!'" I recently learned that Keira Knightley, star of the upcoming "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms", has some concerns about Disney, as well.

"Because, you know, she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her".

The voice behind Princess Anna of "Frozen" reveals that she's concerned about the messages Disney princesses are sending children. "Or where she got that apple?'" Bell shared. "Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously", the actress said. That one's a little tricky - but I'm keeping to it'.

"And", she added, "this is the one that I'm quite annoyed about because I really like the film but 'Little Mermaid.' I mean, the songs are great but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello". She's implying that the Prince is doing something wrong in the story by kissing her.

Plenty of people pointed out Bell's interesting take on Snow White.

Kazue Muta, a sociology professor at Osaka University in Japan, wrote on Twitter late a year ago that children's stories such as "Snow White" promote sexual violence.

'I've had that feeling, and I want my girls to know that you're allowed to feel it, ' she explained. The story evolves around Attempted Murder by Poisoning, Witchcraft, Dwarfs with personality disorders & a talking mirror. Do you agree with her take on Snow White?
