Australia's Leishman cruises to CIMB Classic win

Woodland is chasing a second victory of 2018

Marc Leishman shot a 7-under 65 in the final round to win the CIMB Classic Sunday by five strokes and equal the tournament course record.

Following his closing round of seven-under 65 at TPC Kuala Lumpur to win the only PGA Tour-sanctioned event in South-east Asia with a 26-under 262 total, the Australian admitted it felt "unbelievable".

Leishman started strong with birdies on four of the first five holes.

Leishman becomes the first non-American to win the tournament since its inception in 2010 and earns him a $1 260 000 paycheque.

Two-time former champion Thomas finished strongly, with his highlight an eagle three at the par-five fifth, to finish in a share of fifth alongside Louis Oosthuizen, Gary Woodland, Charles Howell III Abraham Ancer.

His fourth PGA Tour victory looked a distant dream in 2015 when the 34-year-old almost quit golf in April that year after his wife Audrey nearly died from acute respiratory distress syndrome and toxic shock syndrome.

"I won't say it made golf less important, but it made me realise that golf's not life or death".

Leishman finally had a blemish with a bogey on 13, but he steadied at the par-four 16th, rolling in a delightful curling birdie putt from 15 feet.

"A lot of fans came out today so I was very grateful and in awe but I'm disappointed I couldn't show them a better play", Park said. I started thinking if I could shoot seven-under, it would give me the chance. "It's nice to be back and playing well".

Sharma, who burst onto the scene with wins in Joburg and Maybank Championship on the European Tour earlier in the season, moved to 19-under-par 197, catching up with joint overnight leaders Gary Woodland of the United States and Australia's Marc Leishman, who both came in with 67 each. Defending champion Pat Perez closed with a birdie to shoot 69 and was nine strokes off the lead.

Hadley, 31, made a double bogey on the ninth hole, but four birdies on the back nine resurrected his round, and he was delighted with his finish after a poor run of form lately.

"I want to try and win something else before the end of the year but this is awesome".

The next stop on the PGA Tour is The CJ Cup with live coverage on Sky Sports Golf starting on Thursday from 3am.
