India vs West Indies, 2nd Test, Day 3: Windies 76/6 at Tea

Pleased as punch

West Indies coach Stuart Law has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the two upcoming ODIs against India in Guwahati and Vishakapatnam on 21 and 24 October after breaching the code of conduct on Sunday during the 2nd Test resulting in three demerit points and a 100% fine.

Indian openers Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul then chased down the target of 72 in 16.1 overs to win the Test match and complete their 10th successive series win at home.

The Caribbean side dared to dream when they bowled India out for 367 to limit the first innings deficit to just 56 runs, but their batsmen then produced a wretched display to crumble for 127 in their second innings - their lowest score in India in 31 years.

Earlier, India had crushed the tourists by an innings and 272 runs in the first Test at Rajkot.

For India, it was their 10th series win at home since their last defeat against England way back in 2012. Jason Holder (19) added 38 runs with Sunil Ambris (38) for the seventh wicket in what was the best passage of play from the West Indies batsmen.

- Rishabh Pant became the second Indian player to get dismissed in the 90s in consecutive innings after Rahul Dravid (92 and 93 against Sri Lanka in 1997). Prithvi Shaw remained not out on 33 and hit the winning runs.

Jason Holder became the first pacer to make a 50-plus score and take a 5-for against India in India after nearly 35 years.

However, on the stroke of the drinks break, Hetmyer lost the plot, charging and swinging wildly at Kuldeep and peeling a simple catch to Cheteshwar Pujara at point.

Starting their second innings after the interval, West Indies' capitulation began from the second ball.

Without a score of note in his comeback series, Ambris tried to make his mark, carving out four fours off 95 balls in almost two hours at the crease. This time he played 134 balls hitting 11 boundaries and two sixes.
