Saudi journalist's death recorded on his Apple Watch: Turkish newspaper

Saudi Arabia rejects baseless allegations of Khashoggi murder

In an excerpt from an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, Trump added pressure on the kingdom, vowing "severe punishment" should the kingdom's leaders be linked to the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Jordanian government also affirmed the Kingdom's central role in consolidating security, stability and peace and enhancing economic cooperation both regionally and globally.

Riyadh on Saturday dismissed accusations that authorities there had ordered Khashoggi be murdered by a hit squad inside its Istanbul consulate as "lies and baseless allegations".

Branson, who dropped two directorships linked to Saudi tourism projects around the Red Sea, said claims about Khashoggi's disappearance would "change the ability of any of us in the West to do business with the Saudi government".

Now reports are emerging about evidence said to prove the journalist was murdered soon after entering the consulate and that the smartwatch he was wearing could potentially help solve the mystery.

Khashoggi, who was considered close to the Saudi royal family, had become a critic of the current government and Prince Mohammed, the 33-year-old heir apparent who has shown little tolerance for criticism.

He had been living in a self-imposed exile in Washington D.C. for over a year when he went to the Saudi consulate on October 2 to obtain a document that would allow him to marry Cengiz.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor, had written columns critical of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom's stalemated war in Yemen and its crackdown on activists and businessmen.

The Saudis have come under considerable worldwide pressure over the disappearance.

"There needs to be a credible investigation to establish the truth about what happened, and - if relevant - to identify those bearing responsibility for the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, and ensure that they are held to account", the foreign ministers from the three countries said in a joint statement.

A number of members of Congress have pressed the Trump administration to impose sanctions on the country in response to the Khashoggi affair.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he is against cancelling the $110 billion mega arms deal with Saudi Arabia as this will hurt America's economy and jobs.

The selection of Saudi Arabia, as CBS News' chief White House correspondent Major Garrett documents in his book "Mr. Trump's Wild Ride", bucked prior presidents' habit of first visiting a more traditional United States ally, and signaled that the administration wanted to put a greater emphasis on good relations with Riyadh.

This time, however, it acknowledged for the first time that Saudi Arabia was accused of killing Mr Khashoggi. In addition, Bloomberg, the New York Times, the Financial Times, CNN and CNBC have all cut their ties with the conference. It would lead to Saudi Arabia's failure to commit to producing 7.5 million barrels.

Turkish media have also released a series of videos, apparently taken from surveillance cameras, showing the alleged Saudi agents arriving on private jets the day Khashoggi disappeared, checking into and out of hotels near the consulate, and then flying out that night.

Mr Trump said: "They are ordering military equipment".

Those policies are all seen as initiatives of the crown prince, who has also presided over a roundup of activists and businessmen.
