49ers apologize for omitting Kaepernick from gallery celebrating history

49ers can use underdog role as benefit vs. Packers

The San Francisco 49ers have apologized after leaving former quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of a photo gallery that highlighted the team's history against the Green Bay Packers.

"We're looking into. how that happened and we're trying to rectify it", general manager John Lynch said on KNBR 680-AM.

"I just learned about it a couple of minutes ago", Lynch said on the "Murph & Mac" show. Not something I'm proud of.

But the gallery originally withheld pictures of Colin Kaepernick, who led the 49ers to three wins over Green Bay in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, including two playoff victories.

"We have fond memories of those games and that should have been displayed on our website", the 49ers statement said, according to ESPN. "This oversight does not properly reflect the appreciation our ownership and this team have for Colin". "Against the Packers, anyone who's a fan of football, particularly 49ers fans, knows he has a great part of history against the Packers".

There is no reason to believe the initial lack of Kaepernick photos had anything to do with the controversy surrounding the national anthem social justice protests that Kaepernick originated. That support included matching his $1 million pledge toward social-equality programs.

USA retailer Sears files for bankruptcy
Three companies that sell items at Sears told Reuters this week that Sears had missed payments to them over the past few weeks. Sears Holdings made it official early Monday morning, announcing the retailer has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Kaepernick opted out of his 49ers contract after the 2016 season, and has been out of the league since.

The gallery was billed by the team as the "top moments between the 49ers and Packers since 1950".

He defeated Green Bay in the playoffs in two consecutive years.

The team acknowledged that Kaepernick was not in the photos.

On Wednesday, Kaepernick was honoured with the W.E.B.

That was the essence of the NFL's decision to take away the team's Week 7 Sunday Night Football game against the Rams and give it to the Bengals and Chiefs instead. While the 49ers aren't where they expected to be after starting the Jimmy Garoppolo era, the Packers aren't doing much better in terms of their goals for the season.
