Tigers announcers lose jobs after alleged choking incident near broadcast booth

Rod Allen and Mario Impemba have reportedly lost their jobs calling Tigers games after an alleged attack over a chair at work. More

Longtime Fox Sports Detroit broadcasters Rod Allen and Mario Impemba will not return to the booth next season after a disagreement turned physical on September 4, the Detroit Free Press reported, citing sources.

Now the two have apparently lost their jobs.

The late-season falling out was reportedly the result of a disagreement over a chair in the broadcast booth.

The end of their lengthy run is not surprising: Both Allen and Impemba did not appear on the air for the remainder of the season after the incident.

Allen's agent Tom Shaer denied the allegations at the time in a statement given to WDIV.

The Tigers and Fox Sports Detroit haven't commented publicly about the reports.

Longtime Detroit sports personality Matt Shepard and former Detroit Tiger Kirk Gibson were paired together to call the games on Fox Sports Detroit during the Impemba and Allen's absence.

Impemba had been the primary play-by-play voice for the Tigers since 2002, with Allen joining him the following season.
