Roberts asks federal judges in Colorado, other states to handle Kavanaugh complaints

President Donald Trump listens as retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy swears-in Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has referred ethics complaints filed against Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings to the Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Roberts explained in the letter, addressed to Timothy Tymkovich, the Chief Judge for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, that the complaints had originally been sent to the D.C. Circuit Court, where Kavanaugh previously sat, but that he had received requests from a judge on that court to transfer it to another circuit.

Roberts said in his letter that he was initially notified of complaints against Kavanaugh on September 20.

Mr Kavanaugh went through a bruising confirmation process in the US Senate, where questions were also raised over his partisan rhetoric. Then-president Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland, but Republicans used their majority to prevent Garland from even getting a Senate hearing. He said the 10th Circuit would probably close the case because it is outside of its jurisdiction now that Kavanaugh is a Supreme Court justice.

"Say it loud, and say it clear: Kavanaugh's not welcome here!" they chanted, dressed in long red robes and white hats in temperatures slated to reach 80 degrees.

Complaints made against judges are usually handled by the chief judge.

Hurricane Michael sends Florida, Alabama residents scrambling: 'It's very chaotic'
The storm caused widespread destruction in Central America over the weekend, where at least 13 people have been reported dead. Here are some other facts that show the power of this " monstrous storm ". "Do not think you can survive it", Scott said.

"The situation is highly unusual, legal experts and several people familiar with the matter said", The Washington Post explained on Saturday.

Each federal court has a so-called "judicial council" to investigate conduct complaints and make disciplinary recommendations.

Pointing out that Kavanaugh's confirmation was approved by the smallest margin of any Supreme Court Justice since 1881, Kimmel referenced the widespread protests that ensued.

The existence of misconduct complaints and the procedure can be disclosed, according to the rules, "when necessary or appropriate to maintain public confidence in the judiciary's ability to redress misconduct or disability".
