Please, US President Donald Trump, shed light on my fiance's disappearance

Jamal Khashoggi vanished following a visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2

"I don't like hearing about it", Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday. The officials wanted to bring him back to Saudi, the Post reported, citing an unidentified official familiar with the situation. The footage shows Khashoggi entering the consulate on October 2.

"And we want do get to the bottom of it", the U.S. president said. We are going to take a serious look at it.

Leading senators have already made their displeasure clear with Saudi Arabia, with Senator Bob Corker telling Reuters, "You can't go around killing journalists".

Trump added: "Nobody knows what happened yet". "We can not let this happen, to reporters, to anybody".

"In both calls they asked for more details and for the Saudi government to be transparent in the investigation process".

Overall, he decried a "global epidemic" of the stigmatization of journalists, "whether it's the United States and Donald Trump calling them "the enemy of the people" or it's [President] Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines doing much the same thing - where any number of other places journalists are under threat".

"The recent disappearance of Saudi journalist and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi suggests that he could be a victim of a gross violation of internationally recognized human rights", the letter said.

Aksam said they left their hotel later in the morning.

A source told the Post that prior to Khashoggi going missing, USA intelligence intercepted Saudi officials' communications, which revealed a plan to capture Khashoggi and get him to Saudi Arabia.

A private Turkish television channel close to the country's president has aired surveillance video of missing writer Jamal Khashoggi walking into the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul and a black van leaving later for the consul's home.

Khashoggi's mysterious disappearance has led to protests in front of the Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC, where activists demanded justice for missing journalist.

News channel 24 aired the video, suggesting that Khashoggi was inside of the black Mercedes Vito, which resembled one parked outside of the consulate when the writer walked in on October 2.

Brunson, a pastor for the last 20 years at the Evangelical Resurrection Church in western Turkey's Izmir, was arrested on alleged links to the PKK terrorist group and the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), who orchestrated an attempted coup on July 15, 2016; however, he was later put on house arrest. It says CCTV at the consulate were not working on the day in question.

"They've got some explaining to do", he said of Saudi Arabia, adding he did not wish to rush to judgment.

Saudi Arabia has denied the allegations.

"The administration is so close to Saudi Arabia", Scarborough told Ignatius.
