Nintendo Stealth Launches ‘Souped-Up’ ‘The Legend of Zelda’ on Switch

NES – Nintendo Switch Online adds The Legend of Zelda special version

This remixed version certainly offers an easier entry point to the experience, and has obvious appeal to both new players and hoary old explorers who just want to take a stroll down memory lane.

Nintendo has released the three latest NES games announced for October for the Nintendo Switch Online NES library, being Solomon's Key, Super Dodge Ball, and NES Open Tournament Golf, but it also came with an unannounced fourth addition - The Legend of Zelda - Living the life of luxury!. You'll begin with all equipment, including the White Sword, the Magical Shield, the Blue Ring, and even the Power Bracelet. The "luxury" edition starts players off with a ton of rupees and items. Interestingly, beating the game in this way will unlock a "more hard version" called Second Quest. The protagonist, a sorcerer called Dana, must find the eponymous key by progressing through a series of increasingly challenging rooms by creating and/or destroying orange blocks. Some NES games got added to the app today and, as a surprise bonus, among them was a new version of the The Legend of Zelda. It features Mario, Luigi, and other familiar characters.

The Legend of Zelda is now available for download on the Switch, though you'll need a Switch Online subscription to get access to it. In November, the app will gain Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack and TwinBee, while December will see the release of Adventures of Lolo, Ninja Gaiden and Wario's Woods.
