In a September 21 open letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Yale Law School faculty stated in part that "the confirmation process must always be conducted, and appointments made, in a manner that gives Americans reason to trust the Supreme Court". The increased protest activity is owed to another sexual assault allegation by Deborah Ramirez, who told The New Yorker that Kavanaugh had assaulted her while they were freshmen at Yale. In a statement, the agency said it removed 46 protesters from the Dirksen Senate Office Building - where the ME senator's office is - and charged them with obstructing.

Judge Kavanaugh dug up calendars from the summer of 1982 to corroborate his denials of Dr. Ford's allegations. In one case, a former student told the Guardian, a prospective clerk was introduced to Kavanaugh at a party that Chua hosted at her home - and was later told that the judge wanted her to apply for the post.
Kavanaugh and Ford are both scheduled to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, although the ranking Democrat on the panel, U.S. Sen.

Yale student Jishian Ravinthiran, center, raises his fist during a protest against Judge Brett Kavanaugh in the Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda, on Capitol Hill, Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 in Washington.
About 300 students participated in the protests on campus, and 115 others traveled to Washington to demonstrate, said John Gonzalez, a second-year law student who said the protests included the majority of the student body of about 600.
