The New York Times published Friday afternoon what reads like a bombshell: "The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested previous year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit".
The deputy attorney general issued a statement saying: "The New York Times's story is inaccurate and factually incorrect". He also allegedly tried to gather support in the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment in order to remove the President for being unfit to perform his duties.
Rosenstein seems to know that President Trump can not be trusted to handle sensitive information.
The president's comments come hours after a New York Times report that Rosenstein talked about secretly taping Mr. Trump and asking Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Mr Rosenstein, the USA official who oversees the federal investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 U.S. election, also suggested secretly recording Mr Trump, the Times reported.
"Andrew McCabe drafted memos to memorialize significant discussions he had with high level officials and preserved them so he would have an accurate, contemporaneous record of those discussions".
The New York Times cites unnamed sources who it purports were briefed on either the substance of Rosenstein's conversations or notes taken by the officials involved, including Andrew McCabe, who was the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the time of the alleged events. With all that hanging in the air, Trump has resisted calls from conservative commentators to fire both Sessions and Rosenstein and appoint someone who would ride herd more closely on Mueller or dismiss him. Doing so would also take him out of his role overseeing Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation into Trump's role in Russian meddling in the election.
Schumer says the report must not be used for the "corrupt purpose" of firing Rosenstein. "I think he has the power and perhaps should go ahead and put together an investigative mechanism perhaps relying in part on the White House counsel's office so that they can get access ... to whatever these McCabe memos are", Coffey suggested. The White House also released a memo from Rosenstein criticizing Comey for how he ran the Clinton probe.

There, she alleges the Supreme Court nominee held her down, covered her mouth, groped her and tried to rip off her swimsuit. Chuck Grassley , R-Iowa, rejected. "I remember a penis being in front of my face", she told the magazine.
Amid furor, Trump pushes pause on deciding Rosenstein's fate
Graham said he didn't favor firing Rosenstein, who has denied the report and said he never advocated for removal of the president. Trump is vowing to weed out the "lingering stench" of hostility toward him that he says exists inside the Justice Department .

Trump's advisers have argued that leaving Rosenstein in place preserves more options for the president as the Mueller investigation unfolds.
"We have great people in the Department of Justice".
McCabe was sacked earlier this year, and a grand jury is weighing possible charges against him for allegedly misleading investigators in a leak probe.
The Justice Department on Friday distributed a list of instances in which the inspector general said McCabe had made false statements in the past.
Reacting to the New York Times' report, Mr Trump's eldest son Donald Trump Jr posted on Twitter: "Shocked!"
Trump has always been furious at Justice Department officials, including Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, for their handling of allegations that Trump's campaign conspired with Russian Federation to help him with the presidency and their failure to more fully investigate his allegations that anti-Trump officials within the law enforcement community abused their power to try to frame him. "Ohhh, who are we kidding at this point?"
One of about a half dozen people who were parties to the Rosenstein discussions referenced by the newspaper, recalled a reference to using a "wire".
